LUIS ROMERO is a self-taught artist, born and raised in Mexico City and influenced by the city's bright, creative undercurrent. As a young adult he moved to Seattle, where he spent 15 years. Far from his home country, Luis reimagined the Mexico of his youth and through painting, he explored his Mexican soul.
His folkloric illustrations are storytellers, memories on paper. Inspired by the faces of farmers and flower sellers, revolutionaries and ritual makers, Luis’s work conveys his deep affection for the people of Mexico.
Luis lives in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where he creates alongside his wife River in the River Song studio.
All works are acrylic paint on papel amate, a traditional Mexican handmade paper.
A collection of tangible happy memories.
